Senior Wealth Advisor, Partner
John Gjertsen’s path to wealth management didn’t begin in finance; it began with code. After several years as a software engineer, John found himself captivated by a new kind of problem to solve: his own financial plan. What started as curiosity about tax strategies and long-term planning soon evolved into a full career pivot.
A Raleigh native, John holds a degree in Applied Mathematics and Managerial Studies from Rice University. His technical background and love of problem-solving laid a natural foundation for his work at BlueSky Wealth Advisors, which he joined in 2010. Today, he serves as a Senior Wealth Advisor and Partner, blending analytical rigor with a personal, client-first approach.
Now based in Acworth, Georgia, John brings both expertise and empathy to his role. As a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), and Enrolled Agent (EA), he’s equipped to guide clients through life’s complex financial decisions with clarity and care.
Why Wealth Management?

Why BlueSky?
From the start, I appreciated BlueSky’s commitment to excellence. The fact that David Blain holds a CFA designation signaled that the firm took expertise seriously. That professionalism and integrity resonated—and still does.
