John joined us in our New Bern, NC headquarters in 2024 after honorably retiring from the US military after 20 years of service. He was initially assigned to the United States Marine Corps Infantry as a Corpsman (medic) before completing US Navy SEAL (Sea, Air, and Land) Training and being assigned to an East-coast-based SEAL team.

John earned his MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, with majors in Finance and Innovation. He previously earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Maryland Global Campus.

During his time in the military, he traveled to multiple developing nations, advised host nation governments and military partners worldwide, and led cross-functional teams in austere and remote environments. In John’s words, “The military reinforced the importance of teamwork and working together to solve the most challenging problems.”

John and his family are proud to call New Bern, North Carolina home.

What do you enjoy most about being part of BlueSky?

Leaving the Special Operations Community, one of my biggest concerns was not finding an organization that embraces teamwork, innovation, and service. I am pleased that BlueSky Wealth Advisors embraces these and many other qualities that I would expect in an elite organization. I’m excited to learn from my teammates and continue to grow as an advisor!

What does “improving the quality of our clients’ lives” mean to you?

Improving the quality of our clients’ lives goes so much further than growing their wealth. As advisors, we must commit to understanding their specific goals, needs, and aspirations while mitigating uncertainties. By understanding our clients personally and tailoring our services to their unique circumstances, we can positively impact our clients’ lives far beyond monetary gains.

What keeps you busy when you’re not working?

I enjoy traveling, spending time with family and friends, and exercising my body and mind. Our family trips typically involve snow skiing or going on a cruise!
